Long Day’s End

What did you bring?
Hightened spaces of tension
Augmented by realities
Mostly known, some unknown
You brought downs, with some ups
A being here, a shadow there
Distress here, a smile there
In reality, at long day’s end I grew
Telling me once again
What I already knew
That time has its way
Of winning no matter the cost
When sun goes down
Night she comes, day is lost
The winter nights get long
A season’s trivial game
The empty morning room coming
But who is there to blame?
